One of the most annoying aspects of surfing the Web is dealing with pop-ups. During normal web surfing dozens of windows can pop up on the screen, occasionally containing offensive advertisements.
Google provides a free toolbar that contains an effective pop-up blocker. A link to the software with installation instructions can be found here: Google toolbar add-on.
Google's toolbar provides many other free services described at their website.
